Background

The proposed power station will use waste flue gases from the steel mill and unspecified "solid waste" to generate power for "captive use".[1] However, Concast Bengal Industries also claims that the power plant will "make a valuable contribution to the power scenario of West Bengal" and "light up a million lives".[2] Platts list the project as a coal-fired project.[3]
