Background
In 1953, the Beckum-Kollenbach plant implemented the worlds first rotary kiln plant with a suspended gas heat exchanger system, which was the foundational technology that led to today's cyclone preheater. In 1969, the plant was acquired by Readymix AG, which was acquired by Cemex WestZement GmbH in 2005, Readymix AG was acquired by Cemex WestZement GmbH. However, in 2015 the plant was acquired by Holcim WestZement GmbH. In 2023, the plant commenced a carbon capture trial using amine scrubbing technology to separate CO2,
