Background on Mine

The Behraband coal mine project is an underground mine with a capacity of 0.60 MTPA on a lease area of 770.13 Ha operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India, located in village Behraband, Tehsil Bijuri, District Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh, India. Behraband mine Block is located in the eastern part of Sohagpur coalfield in the Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.[1]

Behraband North Extn coal mine was allocated to IIL, however, was later cancelled and mired in legal controversies. The mine was further listed for allocation, but not yet allotted. The mine has a reserve of 174.87 MT[2]
