Background on Project

Beixinyao power station is a proposed 2 x 1,000 MW coal plant in Ningwu County, sponsored by Datong Coal Mining Group. A tender notice for preparation of the pre-feasibility study was put out in February 2017.[1]

In September 2020, a feasibility study meeting was held for the project. The power station was described with an updated capacity of 4 x 1,000 MW.[2]

As January 2021, the feasibility study was reportedly approved.[3]

In April 2021, Jinergy Holding Group and Zheneng Group were reportedly in discussions to cooperate on coal electricity projects, including Beixinyao power station.[4]
