Background
Hyundai won the combined cycle power plant contract, beginning the project in 2014.[7] In October of 2018, Move it Magazine reported that the power plant "should be fully operational by the end of this year."[8] However, the African Power Platform lists the project as "Under construction" while Zawya labels it "delayed"[9][10]
A media report from 2019 remarks that the project has been delayed by 8 months and is expected to come online in 2020.[11] This aligns with SPE's development plan, which slates commissioning for 2020.[12] However, as of July 2021 SPE's list of operating plants does not include Bellara.[13]
