Background
The FSRU is associated with the 3–4.8 GW Ben Tre power project under consideration in Vietnam's Power Development Plan 8.[1]
The Power Development Plan 8 lists the project among those that are "behind schedule or cannot be implemented".[2] As of July 2023, there are no updates on the project and the terminal is inferred to be shelved.
An amendment to the Power Development Plan 8, released April 2025, still lists this project in this category.[3] Therefore, it is inferred to be cancelled as of August 2025, with no updates indicating it is actively in development for more than four years.
