Background

In October 2021, construction of units 1-5 was already underway.[9] The turbines were delivered on-site and installed. Construction of associated infrastructure was underway. The project was expected to be completed in two phases: Phase I would include the commissioning of units GT3 and GT4, and Phase II of the remaining units GT1, GT2, and GT 5. The project was expected to be commissioned by 2022.[9] Construction was ongoing in April 2022.[13]Siemens supplies the gas turbines for the construction of units GT1-GT5.[9] After the start of the war, Siemens put all new business and international deliveries to Russia and Belarus on hold.[22] As of October 2022, the consequences for the delivery, operations, and maintenance of existing and planned Siemens gas turbines is unclear.[23]Units CC3 and CC4 are to retire in 2025, following the commissioning of the Astravets nuclear power plant.[4]As of October 2022, the completion of construction works on units GT1-5 was postponed from 2022 to 2023.[16]
