Background

Summit Bibiyana Power Company Limited (SBPCL)  implemented the Bibiyana 341 MW Gas-fired Combined Cycle power plant, one of Bangladesh's largest IPP (Independent Power Producer) projects. Asian Development Bank (ADB), International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) provided USD $210 million in financing to the project company.[9]The project met all environmental and social guidelines adopted by IFC, World Bank Group, ADB, and the Department of Environment (DOE) of Bangladesh.[9]In 2015, the plant came online.[10] The project achieved a simple cycle commercial operation date in June 2015 and a combined cycle operation date in December 2015.[9]
