Background
The Salamanca CC power station is one of several new combined cycle power projects initiated during the six-year term of Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024).
Official government estimates of the plant's capacity have ranged from 861 MW[11] to 927 MW[12] to 932.39 MW.[13]
Construction got underway in September 2021 and was expected to be completed by September 2024.[12] The project was said to be 93.60% complete as of December 31, 2023[13], and 98.69% complete by September 30, 2024.[12]
As of September 2024, the plant was expected to begin test operations in early October 2024[12], with commercial operations to follow in 2025.[14]
The CCC Salamanca power station began commercial operations on February 14, 2025.[15]
