Units 7-9

Fenyi power station comprised of three operating units, Unit 7 (100 MW, built in 2003), Unit 8 (210 MW, built in 2006), and Unit 9 (330 MW, built in 2009). All three were subcritical and used bituminous coal.[1] Units 1-6 had previously retired.

In March 2023, the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced the completion of the elimination of "backward production capacity" in 2022 ("second batch"), and reported that unit 8 had been retired.Cite error: Closing </ref> missing for <ref> tag

The project was reported as under construction in October 2015,[2] but construction did not begin. It was later reported that construction would begin in 2017 and operation in 2019.[3]

Construction began in June 2018.[4]

Unit 10 was commissioned in May 2020.[5] Unit 11 was commissioned in August 2020.[6]

Units 12 & 13

In March 2020, Jiangxi Province released plans to build an additional 2 x 1,000 MW units at the power station.[7]

The units were permitted in December 6, 2022.[8]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[9]
