Fenyi power station (国家电投江西电力分宜发电厂) is a 1,860-megawatt (MW) coal plant in Jiangxi Province, China.
An additional 2,000 MW is in planning.
Location
The undated satellite photo below shows the plant in Fenyi County.
Units 7-9
Fenyi power station comprises three operating units, Unit 7 (100 MW, built in 2003), Unit 8 (210 MW, built in 2006), and Unit 9 (330 MW, built in 2009). All three are subcritical and use bituminous coal.[1] Units 1-6 are retired.
Units 10 & 11
In September 2015, CPI permitted an additional 2 x 660 MW expansion (Units 10 and 11) for construction.[2]
The project was reported as under construction in October 2015,[3] but construction did not begin. It was later reported that construction would begin in 2017 and operation in 2019.[4]
Construction began in June 2018.[5]
Unit 10 was commissioned in May 2020.[6] Unit 11 was commissioned in August 2020.[7]
Units 12 & 13
In March 2020, Jiangxi Province released plans to build an additional 2 x 1,000 MW units at the power station.[8]
The units were permitted in December 6, 2022.[9]
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[10]
