Background
Original plans called for the Humay power station to be constructed using M501JAC turbines produced by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems, on brownfields and redundant agricultural land with access to the Pan American highway, port, and airport in Pisco, Ica, Peru.[9][10]
The plant won environmental approval in 2019[11], and various news reports in 2018 and 2019 indicated that construction was to begin soon and would continue into 2021.[11][12][13]
As of November 2022, outdated information on the website of plant owner Gaz Energie still stated that the plant was construction-ready and that operations were expected to begin by the end of 2020.[10] However, there has been no solid news about the plant's progress since 2019, and it appears to be shelved.
