Background

The construction project was completed in 1967, and site preparation for construction began in October 1971. The plant became operational in 1978.[9] The CHP plant reached its design capacity in 1983. The station was planned as the main source of energy for the synthetic rubber plant, with the issuance of electrical power to the unified energy system of the Urals and for heating Tchaikovsky. The fuel for CHPP-18 is gas with the possibility of burning coal.[10]
