Chiang Muan coal mine

The former Chiang Muan coal mine in Phayao province, in northern Thailand is owned by Banpu. According to its website the company closed the mine late in 2008 "due to depletion of their coal reserves" and that the mine is "now under rehabilitation stage."[1] The U.S. Geological Survey reported that in 2007 the total production of the Chiang Muan and the company's Lampang coal mine was approximately 3.4 million tonnes.[2]
