China Resources Wenzhou power station (华润电力温州发电厂) is an operating power station of at least 2000-megawatts (MW) in Bacao Town Pipamen, Cangnan, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China with multiple units, some of which are not currently operating. It is also known as 华润苍南发电厂一期; Huarun Cangnan power station (Phase I Unit 1, Phase I Unit 2), 华润苍南发电厂二期 (Phase II Unit 3, Phase II Unit 4).

Background on Project
China Resources Power Holdings began leading a consortium building a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 2,000 MW in Zhejiang Province. The project was approved in 2009.[1]
In January 2014 it was reported that Unit 1 had gone into operation, having been built in less than 23 months. Unit 2 was expected to begin operation in April 2014.[2][3][4]
Proposed expansion
In June 2014, China Resources was seeking permits to expand the power by station by two ultra-supercritical units of 1,000 MW each.[5]
In 2021, with no developments on the units since their announcement in June 2014, plans appeared cancelled.
However, by 2022, the project was revived and Unit 3 received a permit in June 2022.[6][7][8]
Construction on Unit 3 reportedly began in October 2022.[9] Unit 4 was reportedly permitted on November 8, 2022.[10][11]
In March 2023, though previously thought to be further in development, bidding was underway for the development of Unit 3.[12] In June 2023, candidates were selected from the bidding process.[13] Construction of Unit 3 began in June 2023.[14][15]
In June 2023, bidding was announced for the environmental impact assessment of Phase II Unit 4.[16] Construction also reportedly began on Unit 4 in June 2023.[17][18]
