Background

PPC Zimbabwe began as Premier Portland Cement Company in 1913, the first cement company in the country. In 1918 PPC Limited acquired interest in Premier Portland Cement Company. Premier Portland merged with Rhodesia Cement during the fall of the Federation in 1963. Following the merge was the establishment of United Portland Cement (Unicem) which managed two plants in Colleen Bawn and Bulweyo. PPC purchased Unicem in 2001.
