Background
In August 2025, Mexican national oil company Pemex (Petróleos Mexicanos) published its 10-year strategic plan for 2025-2035, confirming details of several new infrastructure projects, among them the Conexión Maya gas pipeline. The new pipeline would connect the recently completed Southeast Gateway gas pipeline to the existing Energía Mayakan gas pipeline, thereby facilitating transport of Texas-sourced gas to new power plants on Mexico's Yucatán peninsula. Conexión Maya, with a diameter of 36 inches and a capacity of 547 MMcfd, was to extend from Paraíso on the Gulf coast of Tabasco state to the Refinería Sur, 73 kilometers south in the interior of Tabasco state.[1]
