Cook Inlet FSRU
Background
In February 2026, Cook Inlet LNG announced that it was advancing a proposed FSRU-based LNG import project in Cook Inlet, Alaska, intended to help address projected gas supply and storage needs in Southcentral Alaska. The project would moor an FSRU alongside the existing Osprey platform on the west side of Cook Inlet and use existing platform and pipeline infrastructure, with mooring anchors reportedly the only new infrastructure required. The initial project is designed to supply about 22 Bcf of natural gas per year, with first gas expected in mid-2029, and LNG tankers resupplying the FSRU roughly every 30–45 days during winter. Cook Inlet LNG is described as a subsidiary or affiliate of Gardes Holdings Inc and is being developed in partnership with Glacier Oil & Gas Corp; the company said it has begun seeking approvals from FERC, the U.S. Coast Guard, and other regulators.[1]
