Background

The 4 x 500 MW subcritical power station was first commissioned in 1969-1970.[1]

On February 7, 2019, plant owner EDF Energy said it had decided to end generation at its Cottam coal-fired power station on 30 September 2019.[2] In September 2019, the plant retired on schedule.[3]
