DCM Shriram Consolidated

From Global Energy Monitor

DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd (DSCL) is a manufacturer of chemicals, cement, plastics and agricultural products.

In 2009 the company replaced its 24MW oil-fired boiler at the Bharuch DCM power station with a 55MW coal-fired unit.[1]

The Company has two plastics manufacturing facilities located at Kota in Rajasthan and at Bharuch in Gujarat with full coal based captive power. With increasing coal costs eroding the profitability of its plastics business DSCL is looking to generate as much energy as it can from sources of supply under its direct control.[2] In June 2011 DSCL received approval for the Kaprion‐Ki‐Dhani Lignite Mining Project in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan.[3] The mine has been proposed to provide 500,000 tonnes of lignite a year to a captive 125MW coal-fired power station at Kota.[4]
