Background

Delmas Colliery Coal Mine is an underground mine in Delmas, Mpumalanga, South Africa.[3]

Delmas Coal (Pty) Ltd, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuyasa Mining, operates the mine.[3] The mine was purchased by Kuyasa from BHB Billiton in 2002[4]. The coal produced at Delmas is consumed entirely by customers in the South African domestic market.

Coal from the mine will also be supplied by conveyor mine to a proposed 600 MW coal-fired Independent Power Plant (IPP) which will sit adjacent to Delmas Coal.[5]
