Background
In July 2026, Jindal Power Ltd. (JPL) was seeking Terms of Reference (ToR) for a new 2400 (3 x 800 MW) ultra-supercritical coal-fired power station in Dolesara village in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. The proposed site of the new plant was in an area originally meant for an ash pond for JPL’s Tamnar power station.[1] In August 2026, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change returned the ToR proposal to the applicant.[2]
