Background
The Riesa plant has historically struggled with emissions, and the limit for the emission of dioxins was exceeded for years. However, in more recent years ESF Elbe Stahlwerke Feralpi has invested into modernizing the plant and, in 2013, won the Saxon environmental prize.[1] The company has committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This includes SBTi goals to reduce GHG emissions by 50% per tonne of steel produced by 2030 compared to the 2022 baseline. [2]
