Background

The 200 MW El Tesorito power station began commercial operations in September 2022[10][11], becoming the largest new natural gas-fired power station to be built in Colombia in recent years.[11] The plant is powered by 11 small Wärtsilä engines, each with a capacity of approximately 19 MW.[10] The plant does not appear in Global Energy Monitor's Global Gas Plant Tracker due to the tracker's minimum threshold capacity of 50 MW per generating unit.[12]

Celsia and Wärtsilä Finland OY were responsible for the construction of the El Tesorito power station.[13] As of March 2021, Celsia posted a Youtube video indicating that the substation was being built primarily by locals.
