EmberClear

From Global Energy Monitor

EmberClear is a Canada-based energy investing company. Its website states that the company is "an advanced coal energy development company ... focused on the development of advanced coal projects in North and South America, India and Eastern Europe."[1]

On December 17, 2010, EmberClear merged with Future Ventures LLC to form EmberClear Corp. The company "holds options to lease land, options to access coal reserves, technology licenses and other project related assets."[2]

Good Spring Plant

EmberClear is planning to build an $800 million-plus IGCC power plant in the village of Good Spring in Porter Township, Pennsylvania, the Good Spring Plant. CEO Albert Lin believes the project could begin before 2012. EmberClear had been planning the Schuylkill County project for about three years and recently acquired all necessary permits, according to Lin. Earlier that year, EmberClear purchased more coal land in and around Good Spring, adding 50 percent to its 55 million tons in the ground. The company also said it picked Good Spring because of its proximity to rail and its closeness to the PJM (Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland) power grid. The project will generate electricity and sell it directly to the grid.[3]

Future Power PA. LLC is owner of the plant, and a subsidiary of EmberClear and Quad 3 in Houston, Texas. Immersive Media Corp, a Canadian company, has invested $5 million for initial planning and permitting. Summit Anthracite, an equity partner in the project, will provide the site and the coal feedstock.[4]
