Background

In 1987, the Endicott Pipeline was constructed to bring oil from the Endicott Field offshore the North Slope to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. An artifical island, Endicott Island, and a causeway connecting it to the mainland were built as part of the project, allowing the pipeline to be above ground.[6]

In 2014, BP sold its interest in the project to Hilcorp. Hilcorp became the pipeline operator through its subsidiary Harvest Alaska, LLC. Prior to the sale, BP held 68%, ExxonMobil held 21%, and Chevron held 11%.[2][7]

In 2018, ExxonMobil sold its 21% interest to Hilcorp.[4]

In 2022, Chevron offered to sell its 11% interest, but no divestment occurred.[8]
