|This article is part of the Global Fossil Infrastructure Tracker, a project of Global Energy Monitor.|
The pipeline would run from Ennore, Tamil Nadu through Sulurpeta, Renigunta, and Krishnapatnam to Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. The exact proposed route can be seen on p.9 of GTIL's application to the PNGRB.
- Operator: Gas Transmission India Private Ltd. (GTIL)
- Parent Company: Gas Transmission India Private Ltd. (GTIL)
- Proposed capacity: 36 MMSCMD
- Length: 267 miles / 430 kilometers
- Status: Shelved
- Start Year:
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board authorized GTIL to build the pipeline in December 2014. The pipeline was listed as "Under Construction" in a January 2018 report by the Petroleum Planning & Analysis Cell of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas. In March 2019 the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board listed the pipeline's target completion date as April 2020. On October 30th, 2019, PNGRB Board cancelled the authorization issued to GTIL for laying, building, operating or expanding this pipeline citing that GTIL had failed to make progress in execution of project and achieving FC and Capacity booking/ Natural Gas Tie-up. Therefore the project is now considered shelved.
GTIL has challenged the cancellation of authorization in APTEL.
