Background
Etki FSRU is a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) in Aegean, Turkey.[7] The FLNG terminal's jetty can receive LNG carriers with capacities as large as 217,000 m3.[8] Etki Liman İşletmeleri Doğal Gaz İthalat ve Ticaret AŞ (Etki Port Operations Natural Gas Import and Trade Inc.), owned by Kolin and Kalyon, developed the project's infrastructure, including a jetty and onshore gas pipeline that connects the FLNG terminal to the national gas transportation system operated by BOTAS.[7][8][9]
On December 11, 2016, Engie vessel GDF Suez Neptune arrived at Etki LNG terminal.[7] The Neptune is a floating production storage and offloading (FSRO) vessel with a capacity of 145,130 m3.[10] It was inaugurated on December 23, 2016, becoming the first floating LNG storage facility in Turkey.[7] It can regasify and discharge natural gas directly into the national gas system, with an expected supply of 5.3 billion cubic meters per year.[8][9]
In July 2019, the original FSRU was replaced by a new larger-capacity FSRU[11] — FSRU Turquoise.[12] The first floating vessel had a storage capacity of 139,000 cubic meters and was able to provide 14 million cubic meters of gas to the Turkish network per day. The new FSRU, manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries, has a storage capacity of 170,000 cubic meters of gas, and will compress 28 million cubic meters of natural gas to the system on a daily basis.[11] Etki's website for the vessel states that its regasification capacity is 750 million square feet of gas per day, or 5.7 mtpa.[13]
