Background

Prior to 2014, the mine was part of the state-owned Luhanskvugglia and was loss-making. It was planned to privatize the mine. [1]

The mine was seized by separatist forces in 2014.

In 2016, it was reported that the mine resumed operations after a 2-year period due to military activity in the area. The coal mine was severely damaged and significant investments were required to restore production. It was planned to mine about 3,000 tonnes of anthracite coal per month.[2]

It appears that the mine was closed in 2020.[3] Ukrainian media source from October 2023 reported that the mine was liquidated.[4]
