Background

The Formosa Ningbo cogen power station is a 3x150 MW power plant whose units were commissioned from 2004 to 2006.[1] Built to supply power and heat to the plants in the Formosa Plastics Ningbo Petrochemical Industrial Park, the facility covers an area of 180 acres.[2] The Formosa Plastics Group initially invested 600 million RMB to build the first two units, and invested another approximately 440 million RMB to build the third unit.[1][3]

On March 7, 2007, all three units of the power plant had technical difficulties with operation, and the entire plant was out of power for a short period of time. [4]

Emissions Controls

The facility is equipped with both denitrification, desulfurization, and dust removal equipment. 39.4 million RMB was invested into greening the plat; 23 million RMB was invested in desulfurization technology, 7 million RMB into a dust removal project investment, and the last 9.4 million RMB into wastewater, noise, solid waste disposal and ecological greening projects.[1] In 2011, a denitrification facility was added to Unit 2 for 9.76 million RMB.[2]
