Background
The "Putian Shimen'ao Industrial Park Cogeneration Phase II Project" was proposed in Shimenao Industrial Park, Xiuyu District, Putian City, Fujian Province. The project was projected to include a new 3×910t/ h High temperature and high pressure circulating fluidized bed boiler (dual use and one backup) and 2 x 80 MW "back pressure steam turbine generator set."[4]
By October 2022, the construction was ongoing[5] and appeared nearly complete based on Planet satellite imagery. It appeared there were three existing boiler buildings, so Phase I may have three power generating units. Details were unknown.
In June 2023, it was reported that the units of the second phase of the power project were connected to the power grid.[6] At the time of report, one 80 MW unit had begun commercial operation.[6]
Phase II Unit 3 completed their 96-hour trial run in July 2023[7]. The main transformer for Unit 4 was successfully energized in January 2024[8].
