Background on Mine
The Gayatri Underground Coal Mine Project of 0.30 MTPA on a mining lease area of 507.472 ha in Bisrampur coal block operated by South Eastern Coalfields Limited is located in village Getra, Tehsil Ambikapur, District Surguja, State Chhattisgarh, India. The project received environment clearance on 27 November 2002.[4] However, the project needs revalidation of its environment clearance as per the revised guidelines of the MoEF&CC, India.[5]
The Rehar coal block is divided in two blocks, Rehar East known as Rehar coal mine and Rehar West (Mani & Jogi) known as Gayatri coal mine.
