Background

During a meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Working Group on oil and gas cooperation in January 2020, the representatives of Indian and Nepali governments and public sector oil and gas companies decided to study the feasibility of Gorakhpur-Rupandehi Gas Pipeline for further increasing the bilateral cooperation in oil and gas sector.[1] The pipeline was further discussed in the second meeting of the working group, held in August 2020[2], and another one in March 2023.[3]
