Background
In June 2023, Offshore Energy reported that the company Grand Isle LNG had announced plans to build a new offshore, deepwater port LNG export facility 13 miles south of Grand Isle in Louisiana. The deepwater port would be a modular, platform-based design, comprising 2 platforms with capacities of 2.1 mtpa each. Construction of the project would occur in two phases. The terminal is expected to begin operation in 2026.[1]
The president of Grand Isle LNG is David Chung, the founder and former CEO of Annova LNG of the cancelled Annova LNG Terminal.[3]
