Background

Guixi power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,880 MW in Jiangxi Province. The first four units, totaling 500 MW, were retired in 2008-2009.[1]

Units 5 & 6, each with a capacity of 300 MW, were completed between 2005 and 2006. The most recent two units (7 and 8) were built as "great pressure on small" projects, with Unit 8 completed in 2011, a year earlier than Unit 7. The units are each 640 MW. The plant was originally owned by CPI.[2][3][1]

Ownership

In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[4]
