Gupta Energy is the power generation subsidiary of the Gupta Group, a company with interests in coal mining and processing, infrastructure, power and logistics.[1] (Gupta Coal (India) Limited is the Gupta Group's coal logistics and coal processing subsidiary).

Coal power projects

Gupta Energy is currently constructing the first phase of the Chandrapur Gupta power station, comprising two 60MW boilers using coal washery rejects and raw coal as fuel with a second stage consisting of a further 540MW from two 270MW units.[2]

The company also states that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding "with the State Goverment of Karnataka during Global Investers Meet which was held on 3rd & 4th June 2010 for setting up Power Plant of 1320 MW (2 x 660 MW) based on Impoted [sic] Coal which sourced from overseas mines of the Group Companies."[3]
