Strait West Natural Gas Pipeline Network Phase II 海西天然气管网二期工程, also translated as Haixi Natural Gas Pipeline Network Phase II, is a pipeline network with segments that are operating and in construction in Fujian Province, China. It is located along the western bank of the Taiwan Strait, and inherits its name west strait from this geographical location.

Background

The Strait West Natural Gas Pipeline Network Phase II is described as an important natural gas interconnection project in Fujian Province. It was originally estimated to have a total length of 830 kilometers and a total investment of over 10 billion RMB. The approval process took two years and three months.[1]

  • Construction for the Zhangzhou–Zhao'an Gas Pipeline segment began in 2013. The pipeline was divided into two sections for approval, from Zhangzhou to Zhangpu and from Zhangpu to Zhao'an, and the full pipeline was reportedly finished with construction and operational at the beginning of 2020.
  • Construction on the Fuzhou–Sanming Gas Pipeline began on June 28, 2021.
  • The Fuzhou–Fuding Gas Pipeline segment began operating in December, 2020.
  • Construction on the Quanzhou–Dehua Branch segment began on May 28, 2021 with an investment of 1.34 billion RMB.
