Background

The Okgye Plant is an integrated cement production facility with an annual production capacity of 6.6 million tons.[2]

Construction of the Okgye Factory, was started in Okgye-myeon and completed in 1985 along with Kiln No. 1, and Kiln No. 2 and No. 3 were completed in 1990 . Subsequently, the port factory was completed in 1991 , and Kiln Unit 4 was finally completed in 1997.[2]

The production lines at the plant are as follows:

  • Okgye No.1: 3,600 tons/day
  • Okgye No.2: 5,500 tons/day
  • Okgye No.3: 5,500 tons/day
  • Okgye No.4: 5,500 tons/day[3]

In 2018, Asia Cement acquired Halla Cement, making it the third-largest cement producer in South Korea. This acquisition included the Okgye Plant and three slag cement grinding plants, bringing the combined company's market share to 19%.[4]
