Background

Prakash Industries is a mining, steel, and power company. The steel plant at Hathneora village currently operates 199.5 MW of power capacity, including a 37 MW waste heat recovery cogenerator and a 162.5 MW captive coal-fired power plant. Prakash Industries has proposed setting up a new 500 MW (2×100 MW + 2×150 MW) captive power station at village Hathneora in Champa Taluk, next to the company's Integrated Steel Plant. Commissioning is planned for 2016-2019. A terms of reference was issued in 2011 and extended in 2014.[1] An application for environmental clearance was submitted in January 2015.[2]

As of June 2019 the project has yet to receive clearance toward construction.
