Background

Hatsukaichi LNG Terminal is an LNG terminal in Chugoku, Japan.

The Hatsukaichi LNG Terminal was built in 1992 and commissioned in 1996. A second storage tank was added to the facility in 2003. Both tanks have a capacity of 85,000-kl LNG. Gas for the terminal is supplied by Malaysia. In 2004, Hiroshima Gas installed an 11 MW gas-engine cogeneration system to supply electricity and recovered heat for the Hatsukaichi LNG terminal operations.
