Background

Hezhou power station is a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 2,090 MW in Guangxi Province. The plant was permitted in 2010 and completed in 2012.[1][2]

J-Power, Mitsui & Co and the Development Bank of Japan jointly invested in a special-purpose investment company called JM Energy to be a 50:50 partner with China Resources Power for the project.[3][4]

Expansion

In March 2020, a 2 x 1,000MW coal-fired expansion at the power station was listed as a preliminary project in the Guangxi "Energy Network Infrastructure Plan 2020-2022" (《广西“能源网”基础设施建设大会战实施方案(2020-2022年)》).[5]

With no known updates in at least two years, the project was presumed to be shelved in 2022.
