Background

As of December 2024, the Chinese company Hongshi Holding Group planned to invest US$5 billion in the development of an industrial park in Indonesia. The park was planned to produce silicon, polysilicon, and batteries. The investment would involve the construction of a 2 gigawatt (GW) coal-fired power station.[3]

In May 2025, reporting on the development referred to information from Badan Penghubung Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Barat (West Java Provincial Government Liaison Agency).[4] The location of the industrial park was therefore presumed to be West Java Province.
