Background

The pipeline was completed in 2015 and commissioned in July 2018, with the commissioning of the Ichthys FLNG Terminal facility.

Environmental Issues

In August 2018, a plan for INPEX to spend AU$34 million to protect marine megafauna off the Northern Territory was reportedly several years behind schedule.[3] The plan was negotiated by the Labor government in 2012 as part of a deal to offset damage from the Ichthys project, and INPEX previously tried to renege on the agreement in 2016.[4]
