Background

The plant has two proposed units of 125 MW generating capacity each mounted on floating barges.[6]

As of December 2021, the project had completed the following key milestones:[7]

Project Site & Gas pipeline, Transmission line right of way (row) allocation from the Ministry of Lands
Environmental & Social Impact Assessment completed to meet the World Bank/IFC and AFDB environmental and social safeguards.
Approval of Environmental & Social Impact Assessment from the federal Ministry of Environment
Transmission Connection approvals granted from Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN)
Concluded Gas Purchase negotiations with Accugas)
National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) ROW Permit issued


As of December 2021, the following key actions were in progress:[7]

Final phase of processing generation License
Assessment of Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) bids
Invitation to Bid process for Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract
Ongoing negotiations on Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with offtake
