The Iris Energy Childress County Facility is a proposed 600 MW Bitcoin mining facility near the town of Childress, in Northern Texas, USA.
Location
The map below shows the approximate location of the Iris Energy Childress County Facility in northern Texas, USA. The exact location is unknown.
Background
The project would become one of the largest in the US. Iris Energy, an Australia-based corporation, has purchased a 300 acre parcel in Childress County for the project. It would be connected to the grid via a 345 kilovolt transmission line.[1] As of February 2022, a connection agreement was signed with AEP for 600 MW.[2]
The first 100 MW of capacity is expected for completion by the end of 2022.[3] However, in June 2022, just after a major downtown in the price of Bitcoin, plans were announced to delay the project until market conditions stabilize.[4]
