Background

JK Cement Ltd. was established in 1974.[3]

In 2024, JK Cement proposed to construct an integrated cement plant at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India in a phased manner. The plant is expected to have a clinker capacity of 8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) and cement manufacturing capacity of 6 mtpa.[4] Phase-I involves setting up of a kiln of capacity 4 mtpa, cement mill of 3 mtpa and a 25 MW waste hear recovery-based power plant. During Phase-II, another kiln of capacity 4 mtpa and a cement mill of capacity 3 mtpa will be installed and the capacity of the power plant raised to 50 MW.[5]

The proposed project is part of an interlinked project with a Limestone Mine - Khinya-II(A) Block, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Environmental Clearance for the captive mine has already been granted by MoEF&CC in 2022 with total excavation of 6.04 mtpa.[5]
