The Jagannathpur coal mine is a proposed opencast mine, owned by Powerplus Traders Private Ltd, with a production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes per annum, in Pratappur and Rajpur tehsil of Surajpur and Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh State respectively in India.

Background on Mine

The Jagannathpur Opencast Coal Mine Project is an opencast mine, once owned by South Eastern Coalfields Limited, a subsidiary of Coal India, producing 3.5 million tonnes per annum, in Pratappur and Rajpur tehsil of Surajpur and Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh State respectively in India.[1] The environment clearance for the project was granted in February 2018[2] and the project was sold at auction to its current owner in 2019. There have been no updates on the project since.
