Background on Plant

The power station was issued a terms of reference to project sponsor Essel Infraprojects in 2012,[1] at a proposed investment of approximately Rs. 6000 Crores.[2]

Since then the project has yet to receive environmental clearance, and appears to be deferred or abandoned.
