Background

The Jiangjin coal power plant was announced in the early 2000s with construction planned for 2009-2011. The total investment into the project was estimated to be 793 million RMB. The sponsor, Huaneng, would begin with a 2,000 MW capacity, divided between two ultra-supercritical units, and then add another 2,000 MW. However, the project was cancelled in 2009 (estimated).[1]
