Background

Jindal Shadeed Iron & Steel is a steel manufacturing company based in the Sohar Industrial Port area of the Sultanate of Oman. It is the largest privately-owned integrated steel producer in the Persian Gulf region. Jindal Shadeed has made commitments to foster socio-economic growth and support Oman's transition to a green, circular economy. It is currently investing in a pilot Carbon Capture plant with an expected completion date in late 2023. [1] German company Hydrogen Rise AG is partnering with the plant to run a trial production of green steel using hydrogen, (there is potential to use up to 30% green hydrogen) operating as early as 2024.[2] [3]
