Background on Project
In May 2015, Beijing Energy Group was constructing a 2 x 350 MW supercritical coal plant in the city of Jining. It started construction before it received environmental approval, therefore, the provincial environmental authority ordered the halt of the construction.[1]
The first two units were permitted in 2015[2][3] and completed in 2016.[4]
In December 2019, Beijing Energy Group proposed a 2 x 660 MW expansion at the power station.[5] The units were permitted for construction in May 2020.[6]
Construction began in 2020.[7]
Unit 3 went into operation in December 2022.[8][9] Unit 4 went into operation in April 2023.[10]
